Office Manager/Financial Specialist

Malarey was born and raised in Yakima. She quickly realized her passion for working with children when she worked at a local private school. She was excited to take on a new adventure in life by joining our team in October of 2013. Malarey loves reading, spending time outdoors, and is currently pursuing her degree in Accounting.


Patient Care Coordinator

Mercedes was raised in Wapato. She attended the dental assistant program at YV- Tech for two years. She is now attending YVCC for her BS and hoping to attend their hygiene program. After she did an internship with Yakima Pediatric Dentistry she knew then that she wanted to pursue her career in the pediatric field.  She was very excited to join the team in Sept of 2016. She enjoys spending time with her family, friends and cat. She is very honored to be a part of YPD!


Registered Dental Assistant

Maria grew up in the Yakima Valley. She has been serving our community in the field of dentistry since 1998. She started her career in dental assistance at Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic where she quickly found her passion for working with children. She then began her career as a pediatric dental assistant at Children’s Village in 2001. Maria accepted a position at Yakima Pediatric Dentistry where she has been helping children to have healthy smiles since 2008.


Restorative Dental Hygienist

Maria started as a dental assistant in Yakima in 1998. She quickly realized her passion for dentistry and pursued her career as a dental hygienist. After graduating from YVCC in 2002, she furthered her education by attending Eastern Washington University to obtain a Bachelor of Science degree in 2008. Her love of working with children has brought her to be the restorative dental hygienist at Yakima Pediatric Dentistry.




Registered Dental Assistant

Laurie was born and raised in Yakima.  She began her career as a dental assistant in 2008, and was happy to become a part of the YPD team in 2011.  She enjoys helping each individual child to have a healthy smile and is honored to be serving the community of Yakima.


Dental Assitant

Maribel was raised in the Yakima Valley. She has been a dental assistant since 2014. Maribel loves interacting with our patients and working with such a passionate and professional team. She enjoys working with young patients and making them feel at ease to ensure they enjoy each dental visit. On her spare time she enjoys traveling, seeking new adventures, and having a good time with her friends and family.



Dental Assitant

Lizbeth was born and raised in Wapato. She has been a dental assistant since 2014 and enjoys every aspect of it. Liz enjoys working with children and providing wonderful experiences for them with such a great team. She is currently attending Heritage University for her Bachelors in Social Work and is really looking forward to continuing her career working with children. In her spare time she likes to seek new adventures with friends and spend quality time with family.

Dr. Steven Karmy, DDS


Dr. Karmy is a dentist anesthesiologist working for Eastern Washington Ambulatory Anesthesia Services. He grew up here in the Pacific Northwest, graduated from Walla Walla University and completed dental school and anesthesia residency at Loma Linda University in California. His practice is limited to providing general anesthesia and sedation services for dental patients in outpatient settings.

He lives in Walla Walla with his wife, Melissa. He enjoys motorcycle riding and fly fishing in the summers, and hunting for steelhead and sturgeon in the winters. His black lab Duke, also an avid fisherman, loves to accompany him to the water.

Dr. Jessica Kennedy, DDS

Fill in Dentist

Dr. Jessica Kennedy grew up in Yakima. She received her bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Portland, in Oregon, and later earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Washington in 2015.

While in dental school, Dr. Jessica developed an interest in pediatric dentistry. Immediately upon graduation, she returned home to Yakima to complete her two-year pediatric residency through NYU Lutheran Dental Medicine at the Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic and Children’s Village, and received her Certificate in Pediatric Dentistry in the summer of 2017. In her second year of residency, Dr. Jessica also completed a fellowship in Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities (LEND) through the University of Washington.

Dr. Jessica is excited to have the opportunity to continue to serve the community in her hometown, and is delighted to be joining such an experienced and skilled team at Yakima Pediatric Dentistry.

Outside of dentistry, Dr. Jessica enjoys spending time with her family and friends, exercising, and visiting San Juan Island.

Dr. Jessica is a member of the AAPD, WSAPD, ADA, WSDA, and Yakima Valley Dental Society and is currently pursuing board certification with the ABPD. She has successfully completed the qualifying exam and will be eligible to take the oral clinical exam in 2018.
